Hampton University's third-year Architecture studio set out to develop a series of unique design proposals for the Largo Lorenzo Perosi area in Rome, Italy. Through extensive analysis and observation of architecture and public plazas, or piazzas, throughout Italy, students were able to gather pertinent information to assist in formulating their proposals. Upon returning to the States, the students compiled their site analysis and began working towards setting the over-arching theme for the urban design proposals. Reflecting upon architect and author, Camillo Sitte and his urban planning principles, the studio was able to design an effective and engaging urban environment. Through this process, the studio has become more knowledgeable in the process of designing an urban environment within a existing site.
